I'm an experienced GCSE English teacher, examiner and tutor, passionate about helping students achieve their potential. I have taught English for over 25yrs. I am an avid reader.

I studied BA (Hons) English studies at Oxford Brookes University and then achieved QTS (qualified Teacher status), also with Oxford Brookes University on completion of PGCE. I also have achieved MA Ed with Applied Linguistics

My name is Mary Rugman and I could be your private English tutor. Passionate about Literature, I am also fascinated by Language, how it evolves, how children and students learn it. I specialise in teaching GCSE English, Essay writing and structuring exam question responses.

I charge different amounts per Key Stage. this is because, the level of preparation and feedback differs. KS3 - £35, KS4 - £40 and KS5 - £50
Yes! I have taught and tutored a selection of A-level qualifications including: English Literature, English Language and Literature, and Media Studies. I have studied Applied Linguistics at Master's level and would confidently teach A-level English Language and also Film studies.
Yes! I have tutored IB English Language and Literature A and am able to teach variants of this: standard or higher.
Yes! I have prepared students for sitting Independent school entrance exams and can offer advice as to how to approach both the exam and the interview.
